Turtle Beach X31 Gaming Headset Review

 How Does The Turtle Beach® X31 Gaming Headset Make You A Better Gamer?

This is a simple review of the Turtle Beach® X31 Gaming Headset from a serious (about 25-30 hrs a week average) gamers perspective.I am not going to go into any technical detail's about the headset,but rather explain it's benefit's to you as gamer so you can decide if it fit's your particular gaming needs.First off  5 things you must understand:

1. There is no doubt this headset can make you a better gamer!Why?Because higher quality sound = improved gaming scores and higher kdr's;PERIOD!Plus it's much more fun!Being able to hear your opponent from farther away gives you more time to plan your attack or defense.
2. Almost any headset would be superior to the standard $18.00 Xbox® headset.
3. The Turtle Beach X31 Gaming Headset
   will also work on the Playstation® 3 by using the Ear Force PBT Bluetooth® communicator!
4. This headset is (imo) one of the 2  Best Gaming Headphones For Plasma TV!
   Why have a High Def picture without enhanced gaming audio to go with it? That's kind of like owning a Maserati but pushing it instead of driving,ya know?
5. Awesome Price-This is by FAR the most affordable,high-quality Dolby® 5.1 wireless gaming headset on the market;period!Compare the price of this great headset versus a pair of Tritton® AX 720's and you'll see what I mean!

And there are a few other exceptional feature's on the X31's which really struck me as useful,such as:

• The high quality flexible mic boom
• Surprisingly lightweight and comfortable
• Crystal-clear sound quality equivalent to an audio CD
• Superior Xbox Live® game chat sound

So the advantages provided by the X31 Gaming Headset should be more than enough to give ANY player an advantage over their opponent;hands down!Plus the superior sound quality makes the game experience more fun!
That being said,the X31's are not perfect;and 1 flaw in particular I found rather annoying:
Both the mute switch and the live chat volume control are overly hard to properly adjust during online play.
I would like to see Turtle Beach re-design the controller puck on the talkback cable to be just like the Ear Force X1's.

These adjustments are not needed very often,but good luck not getting killed in Modern Warfare2 while fumbling around trying to figure out the mute switch.Sadly it is easier to simply unplug the controller talkback cable from the headset during online play,than adjust the mute switch.
Certainly no deal buster,but annoying nevertheless.Also the X31 Headset loves to devour batteries....at the rate of roughly 2 AAA's every 20-25 hours.I highly suggest you find a cheap source of Duracell's or buy rechargables.
All things considered,the Turtle Beach X31 Gaming Headset get's 5 stars from this reviewer!
The high quality combined with the unbelievable price for this enhanced gaming headset is truly a bargain for anyone wanting to become a better gamer!
